FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about booking, insurance, consultations and how we handle your personal health information.
Do I need a referral to book a consultation?
In most cases you can book a consultation directly with the relevant department. If your visit is covered by insurance or a corporate health scheme, your provider may require a referral letter; our patient coordination team can confirm this when you book.
Which languages are consultations available in?
Consultations at NordicCare Helsehus are available in both English and Norwegian. Please let reception know your preferred language when booking so we can confirm availability with your specialist.
How do I know which department is right for me?
If you are unsure which specialist to see, contact our patient coordination team by phone or through the consultation form. Describing your symptoms or concern will help us direct you to the most appropriate department, or to General Medicine as a starting point.
Can I book an appointment if I am not a Norwegian resident?
Yes. NordicCare Helsehus welcomes international residents and visitors. Please bring valid photo identification and, if applicable, your travel or international health insurance documentation to your appointment.
How are my imaging and laboratory results shared with me?
Results are reviewed by the relevant specialist and typically discussed with you at a follow-up consultation, so that findings are explained in context rather than shared without clinical interpretation.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you inform reception as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Full details of our cancellation terms are set out in our Terms & Conditions.
Is my personal health information kept confidential?
Yes. Patient information is handled in accordance with GDPR and the Norwegian Normen standard for information security in the health sector. Further detail is available in our Privacy Policy.
Can NordicCare Helsehus bill my insurer directly?
Billing arrangements depend on your specific insurance policy or corporate health scheme. Our reception team can advise on direct billing options and any documentation your insurer requires.
Still have a question?
Our patient coordination team is happy to help directly by phone or email.
